PROM (Programmable Read Only Memory)

PROM stands for Programmable Read Only Memory. Instructions can be stored in PROM only once. Then it becomes ROM and we cannot change instructions in it. Initially PROM is a blank chip. Once instructions are written on it, then it become ROM. Now we cannot change or delete the instructions. If there is any error in writing instructions then PROM chip becomes unusable.  

        PROM का पूरा नाम प्रोग्रामेबल रीड वनली मेमोरी होता है। जिसमें निर्देश केवल एक बार च्त्व्ड में संग्रहीत किया जाता हैं जिसे रोम कहा जाता है और इसमें लिखा हुआ निर्देश हम नहीं बदल सकते हैं। प्रारंभ में PROM खाली चिप फार्म में रहता है। जब एक बार निर्देश उस पर लिख दिया जाता है, तो यह रोम बन जाता है। तब हम निर्देशों को बदल या डिलिट नहीं कर सकते हैं अगर रोम मे लिखा गया निर्देशों में कोई गलती हो जाती है तो PROM चिप बेकार हो जाती है।
